AURICULAR THERAPY

Auricular therapy may be used as part of your acupuncture treatment.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the ear is looked at the same way a reflexologist looks at the sole of a foot. The ear is a map of the body, so an acupuncturist can stimulate any organ or body system using needles in the ear.
Discoloration, dryness, or redness in certain areas of the ear can give clues about how that organ is functioning. Diagnosis of the ear can allow insight into where there may be weakness in the body.

Auricular therapy is well-known to treat addictions including smoking cessation, drug and alcohol addictions, and food cravings, to assist with weight loss.
The National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) is a protocol used around the world to help individuals recover from substance abuse and addictions, solely through the use of ear acupuncture.
Ear points are also often selected when treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), stress, anxiety, and depression. Studies have found that acupuncture can assist in balancing serotonin and noradrenalin levels. Pharmaceutical medication for depression and anxiety often control the re-uptake of serotonin and the body's noradrenalin levels, but this can cause dependency and withdrawal symptoms. With acupuncture, we allow the body to stimulate their own responses and allow the natural balance of these neurotransmitters.

What are Ear Seeds?
Ear seeds are tiny adhesives with a pellet attached that are applied onto the ear. They can be used after the needles are removed, or separately.
They applies pressure to the points of the ear that were stimulated with the needles. This allows the stimulation of points to be maintained after the treatment for a few days.
The adhesives will stay on in the shower or swimming. After 3 or 4 days the ear seeds can be removed by peeling them off like a band-aid.
